Newcastle University approached us to help develop a touring exhibition which would celebrate and draw interest to the fishing heritage of the eastern coast of England.

Celebrating the fishing heritage in five ports in eastern England, the 'The Tale of the Herring' project features a touring exhibition and work created by schools in 2011.

We created six striking exhibition banners, which give an overview of the fishing history in each port. The exhibition told the story of the herring and its impact on the local economies and lives. As the exhibition is touring the five ports, the banners are durable, lightweight and portable.

In order to encourage participation from the residents in each port, we created a website that allows more photos and stories to be uploaded and displayed. Comments are enabled on each item, encouraging conversations and the retelling of stories and memories.

The website gives a permanent online home to the exhibition, bringing the stories and memories to a new audience.
